What plants to expect in your Autumn Colour collection

Please note the plants below cover both sun & shade options – the final plants you receive may vary a little depending on season and availability, but without ever impacting the final result!

Salvia nemerosa ‘Caradonna’

Slender spires of intense violet-blue flowers from July to September above clumps of wrinkled, mid-green leaves. This compact form of salvia is perfect for adding a splash of colour and height to a flower bed.

Nandina domestica ‘Obsessed’

A compact evergreen shrub, Obsessed, is primarily grown for its handsome foliage, which if grown in sun, is a fiery shade of red when it first emerges in spring, before turning a rich green as it ages.

Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Hameln’

A charming perennial grass that forms a compact, low mound and produces long-lasting, soft, pinkish, brush-like flowers in late summer that resemble squirrel tails.

Anemone ‘September Charm’

A robust but beautiful Japanese anemone with soft pink, cup-shaped single flowers against deep green foliage, flowering hard from late summer through to autumn.

Anemanthale lessoniana

A fantastic ornamental grass that provides year-round colour, movement and structure in a variety of garden situations. It forms a large clump of slender, evergreen foliagee which bronzes over the seasons.

Persicaria affinis ‘Superba’

Low-spreading mats of neat green leaves, which may stay evergreen over winter, turn a rich russet brown. Spikes of pink flowers flourish over summer for lovely impact.

Rudbeckia ‘Little Henry’

This smaller Rudbeckia is perfect for adding late colour to mixed or herbaceous borders and they also make fine companions to ornamental grasses.

Helenium ‘Waltraut’

From late summer to mid-autumn Helenium ‘Waltraut’ produces sprays of bronze-orange daisy-like flowers up to 8cm (3in) across, each splashed with yellow and having a prominent, globe-like centre.

Sedum ‘Purple Emperor’

Dramatic, deep bronze-purple succulent leaves topped with red-purple flower-heads from August to October. In certain light conditions the foliage of this sedum appears almost black. Very striking.

Salvia ‘Amethyst Lips’

Closely related to the much sought-after ‘Hot Lips’, ‘Amethyst Lips’ can produce an abundance of eye-catching, bicoloured (sometimes solid) purple and white blooms throughout the summer and into autumn.

Salvia ‘Peach Cobbler’

A marvellously colourful way to lead your garden through summer and well into autumn. Very easy to grow, drought tolerant and loved by bees – Salvia greggii ‘Peach Cobbler’ is happy grown in both borders and containers.

Heucherella ‘Sweet Tea’

Large, deeply lobed, burnt orange leaves, with a richer plum central blotch and veining, are the main feature of this shade-loving perennial. A wonderful container plant, it will also look attractive as an understory plant on a woodland floor or in a border.
